Jason Joseph, board president, Chapel Hill House
I’m on the board of Chapel Hill House. We offer a retreat that pediatric cancer families can visit, free of charge, to spend a weekend together surrounded by nature. We believe that family time is healing time, and we offer special place for that to occur.
We’ve been welcoming families to the House since 2003. We knew for a long time that we needed a better website, and we were ready to write a check to make it happen. But Atomic stepped up and volunteered to do the site pro bono. What a great gift to our families.
“We were struggling with SEO. Now we’re seeing an increase in applications because we’re so easy to find.”
We met with Atomic and shared some information about Chapel Hill House, some images, and our goals. Their designers took what we gave them and ran with it, and the concept they brought back was a perfect fit. They really understood the feeling we wanted for the site: homey, rustic, comfortable, peaceful, outdoorsy. That feeling is built into every element of the site, so you get the sense right from the beginning of what we’re all about.

The new functionality on the site has helped us a lot. Families who’d like to stay at Chapel Hill House can now fill out an online application—much easier than before. They can also really see what the house and surrounding countryside look like. Atomic designed the site so that images and video take center stage.
There’s also a secure online donation feature, and a donate button on every page, and in the header. That’s important to us, because we’re funded completely by donations and grants.
People are finding us now. In the past, we struggled with SEO, but we’re in much better shape now. We’re seeing an increase in applications because we’re just so easy to find.
It’s no exaggeration to say that everyone loves the new site. Our board was hands-down thrilled. And Atomic was great to work with. They’re organized and responsive, and they build opportunities for feedback into every stage of the process, so you never get too far down one path and have to backtrack. Instead, everything runs smoothly.
I would definitely recommend Atomic. They’re a unique group of people. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in their work.
