digital learning portal

Client challenge. With healthcare currently commanding so much attention and with the concern over the H1N1 flu, the Dayton & Montgomery County Public Health Department needed a way to quickly get a wide range of health information out to members of the Dayton and Montgomery County community.

what we did

Atomic solution. Atomic created a health education video portal that allows the administration of the Public Health Department to share short, educational videos on maintaining healthy lifestyles, disease control, proper exercise, technological advancements, coveted information on the H1N1 flu and its vaccine and any other information on health and healthcare that the Public Health Department wishes to share. The portal allows visitors to watch, rate and comment on videos as they would on YouTube, to create and manage a personal profile complete with picture and contact information and even to watch live, streaming webcasts. Atomic's construction of the portal allows the site administrators to upload videos with on-the-fly conversion to .FLV format for cross-platform viewing, to manage users, videos and webcasts and to add or remove tags for each video so that they can be searched and easily found. The portal also automatically captures thumbnails of each uploaded video and automatically filters profanity in the video commenting system. The result? The Public Health Department has never been able to share information so quickly and via a modern format with which so many computer users are familiar. The web portal even allows every classroom in Montgomery County with a computer to watch a live video simultaneously. The portal not only educates, it also works to connect our community.
